Basic Pharma Polymers

Enteric Formulations

Enteric coating is aimed to prevent the formulations from gastric fluid in the stomach and release the drug component in the intestinal region or once it has passed into the duodenum. DHARACOAT L 100, DARACOAT L30D-55, DHARACOAT L100-55, DHARACOAT S 100 & DHARACOAT MAE 100P polymers protect active from the gastric fluid and improve drug effectiveness. They are designed to be resistant to stomach acid, and will not get dissolved until the tablet reaches the small intestine. In brief, enteric formulation means acid resistance products. These polymers are pH dependant.

Protective Formulations

Many APIs are moisture-sensitive and thus need protection against ambient moisture. DHARACOAT E series polymers provide efficient moisture protection and demonstrate to active. Hence ideal choice to protect hygroscopic ingredients, used in tablets, pellets & powders. In brief DHARACOAT E series offers reverse enteric property i.e. immediate release at stomach but permeable & swellable in intestine. E series functions as taste-masking also in oral solid dosage forms.

Sustain-Release Formulations

Most conventional drug products, such as tablets and capsules are formulated to release the active drug immediately after administration to obtain rapid and complete systemic drug absorption. The goal of any drug delivery system is to provide a therapeutic amount of drug to the proper site in desired concentration. DHARACOAT RL/RS/NE series polymers deliver the drug at the absorption site at a controlled rate. These polymers are pH independent but having unique property to sustain the API release due to permeability mechanism.
